Trust, the dumpster
Well, after a couple of years of thinking about going to Japan, we bought tickets today. I bought them on JAL (Japan Air Lines) through cheaptickets.com. Since the flight is from Vancouver to Tokyo, I purchased separate tickets through WestJet from Saskatoon to Vancouver, catching a seat sale for that flight.
I'd watched flight prices for over a year, and we paid just under the lowest price I'd seen - mostly as a result of the WestJet seat sale giving us a very good price on the Saskatoon to Vancouver trip. You can, of course, pay as much as you want for flights, and there were times while I was watching prices when the lowest I could find was half again as much as what we paid.
Of course I kept hoping to run into some really spectacular sale and go for half of the price range I was usually seeing . . . but it was not to be.
